February: Week one
Well folks, I went through an extensive portrait fixation, but I had to break it and do some cartoons. I really enjoyed the portraits I did and the new technique I developed for myself, but I had the realization that I kept going after the flame of inspiration had cooled somewhat. I noticed that my portraits were getting some attention and my likes jumped on facebook and instagram, but I couldn’t keep drawing portraits because of that when I felt like moving on. So yeah, my followers and likes took a nosedive when I started drawing cartoons again, but following my inspiration and heart is more important to me. I saw a video recently called “Priceless Stones,” which I found really inspiring and totally appropriate to what I was feeling. Here’s the link to that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6mab9HrZYk
The message is true, and it started me on re-analyzing my current friendships and various relationships. I feel as though we all possess value and shouldn’t undersell ourselves. It also inspired me to care about likes and follows far less, as I understand from the continuous fluctuation of followers that many people are fickle and that some are only following to get follows in return. I don’t do that, actually. I only follow those instagrams that I want to see in my feed every day and they STAY followed. I only want those types of followers that appreciate what I’m doing and want to continue seeing my work as well. Anyway, hope y’all like the new stuff in my New Work folder and that zooming fireballs of positivity continue to smash you in the face. Later.
